Zagreb airport is about 17 km by road from Ban Jelačić Square. In the centre a car means two hours on a zone 1 street or a garage; a few kilometres out, zones 2 and 3 cost EUR 0.70 and EUR 0.30 an hour.

The centre between the main railway station and Ban Jelačić Square, with squares and parks such as Zrinjevac. It suits a first city stay on foot.
Car and parking
Zone 1 streets such as Masarykova and Praška: EUR 1.60 an hour, two hours at most, charged until midnight Monday to Saturday. The Petrinjska and Langov trg garages cost EUR 13.30 for 24 hours and EUR 133 a month; the pedestrian zone needs a city permit.
The old hill town of Gradec and the cathedral quarter of Kaptol, with steep lanes and quiet evenings. It suits a short stay for walkers who leave the car in a garage.

Upper Town streets are zone 1.1, with no hourly parking and stopping and parking reserved for residents and official vehicles; a car without a resident's card is issued a EUR 19.90 day ticket. Kaptol and Tkalčićeva are zone 1, and the Tuškanac and Langov trg garages are the closest.
The district south of the railway around the Lisinski concert hall and the Cvjetno naselje estate, a short walk from the centre. It suits practical stays with a car.

Zone 3 on streets such as Cvjetno naselje, Savska cesta 125 to 177 and Veslačka: EUR 0.30 an hour with no time limit, charged 07:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and until 15:00 on Saturdays, or a commercial card at EUR 17 a month.
The east side around Maksimir park and the city zoo. It suits families and longer stays, and city bus 290 to the airport leaves from Kvaternik Square nearby.

Maksimirska cesta and Svetice are zone 2: EUR 0.70 an hour, three hours at most, free on Sundays. The Kvaternikov trg garage costs EUR 6.60 for 24 hours and EUR 100 a month.
A residential district west of the centre, with a market on Trešnjevački trg and tower blocks among older streets. It suits longer stays with a car.

Ozaljska, Nova cesta and Trešnjevački trg are zone 2: EUR 0.70 an hour, three hours at most, charged 07:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and until 15:00 on Saturdays. A zone 2 commercial card costs EUR 47.80 a month.
The districts south of the Sava around the Zagreb Fair, with newer housing. It suits stays built around the car more than the old centre.

Zones on most streets were not verified as of September 2026. Avenija Dubrovnik 6 to 12 is zone 2, and the Zagreb Fair's east car park has been free for everyone since April 2024 until further notice.
Where to stay
The old centre works on foot and by garage, and its street parking stops at two hours. Trnje, Maksimir and Trešnjevka, 1.5 to 3 km out, have longer and cheaper street parking.

Monthly stay
Zagrebparking sells monthly parking cards through its app and portal, from EUR 17 in zone 3 to EUR 95.60 in zone 1, and the tourist tax is the same every month. Trnje, Maksimir and Trešnjevka make the practical monthly bases with a car.

EUR 1.86 per person per night in hotels and other commercial accommodation, the same all year. Children under 12 are exempt and ages 12 to 18 pay half. In private household apartments the host pays EUR 55 per bed a year instead.
Not by SMS: Zagrebparking says SMS payment works only on Croatian mobile networks. Use its ZgPark app or a parking machine.
