About Verona

Verona closes its old centre to visitors' cars, and only hotels and B&Bs inside it can register a guest's plate. The quarters around it, such as San Zeno and Veronetta, trade a short walk for cheaper street parking.

Airport
Verona Villafranca (VRN), about 18 km by road from Piazza Bra. The Verona Airlink bus reaches Porta Nuova station in 15 minutes, every 20 minutes, for EUR 7, valid 75 minutes on city buses too. Source

Città Antica

The old centre inside the Adige loop: Piazza Bra and the Arena, Piazza delle Erbe and the streets between them. It suits a first visit on foot and evenings at the Arena.

The east bank of the Adige: the university streets, Castel San Pietro and the Giardino Giusti, with the old centre a bridge away. A lived-in quarter that suits longer stays.

Outside the ZTL. Blue bays cost EUR 1 an hour on weekdays from 08:00 to 20:00 and nothing at night or on Sundays; some streets, such as Via XX Settembre, have a two-hour limit. The Porta Vescovo garage costs EUR 5 for 24 hours.

San Zeno

The quarter around the Basilica di San Zeno, west of Castelvecchio, with local squares. Quieter than the centre and a walk from it; it suits longer stays.

Borgo Trento

The residential district on the north bank, along the Lungadige and the Ponte della Vittoria. It suits a month in calm streets more than a first visit.

Porta Nuova

The area around Verona Porta Nuova station and the old Porta Nuova gate, a walk from Piazza Bra up Corso Porta Nuova. It suits trains and the airport bus.

The Stazione Est and Ovest garages give the first 30 minutes free, then EUR 1.50 an hour or EUR 15 for 24 hours. Street bays on Corso Porta Nuova cost EUR 2 an hour every day from 08:00 to 24:00.

Lazise

A walled town on the east shore of Lake Garda and a separate comune from Verona. It suits lake days with a car and trips into the city.

Can a rental car drive into central Verona?

Only when the guest stays at a hotel or B&B inside the ZTL and the host registers the plate. Tourist rentals do not qualify, and since October 2024 only residents of Verona and its province can book an entry.

How much is the Verona tourist tax?
