A month in Treviso

Treviso taxes at most six nights of a month and charges for street parking on every day of the week except Sunday and holiday mornings. Beyond 30 days, a month becomes a lease with its own paperwork.

What a month means legally here

Italian law calls a home let for up to 30 days a short let. It carries a national identification code, the CIN, outside the building and in every listing, and the host registers each guest with the police within 24 hours of arrival.

A lease of a home for more than 30 days in a year must be registered with the Agenzia delle Entrate within 30 days of signing, and a lease that should be registered and is not is void. A holiday month is a tourist let under the Civil Code. A transitory lease, up to 18 months, is for a documented need such as work or study and uses a standard form; if the need is missing or the form is wrong, the law turns it into an ordinary long lease.

The tourist tax applies to at most six consecutive nights per person. At the last rates the comune publishes, the 2024 tariffs confirmed for 2025 (2026 unverified as of September 2026), a month in a three-star hotel costs EUR 15.00 per person in tax and a month in a tourist let EUR 24.00, with nothing due after the sixth night.

The areas that suit a month

Santi Quaranta, on the western side by via Lungo Sile, is a short walk into the centre and close to the Cittadella Istituzioni car park. The station quarter along via Roma sits next to the railway and bus stations. Fiera, east of the walls and outside the traffic zone, suits a month with a car and a daily drive out. The Centro storico is the hardest of them to park in.

Season tickets for residents cost EUR 35.00 a month, EUR 105.00 a quarter, EUR 168.00 for six months and EUR 336.00 a year, and the comune caps how many it issues per zone. Covered monthly places are cheaper than the street: EUR 20.00 at the Cittadella Istituzioni and at Park Porta Appiani, EUR 100.00 at Cantarane. Cantarane sells at most 50 of its 80 places and for no more than six months, because works planned for the second half of 2026 will take it out of use.

A flat inside the walls still needs an answer about the car. The guest pass category in the ZTL rules the comune publishes, version 4 from 2017, is written for clients of accommodation businesses, so a private landlord may not be able to use it; ask before signing how the plate gets on the white list.

The paperwork

Deposit: for a home let as a dwelling the deposit may not exceed three months’ rent under article 11 of Law 392/1978. Whether that cap binds a holiday let governed by the Civil Code is unverified as of September 2026, so agree the deposit in writing.

Every guest shows an identity document or passport at check-in, children included, and the host registers them with the police. A key box with a code sent after an identity-document upload, with no in-person or video check, is the practice the 2024 circular rejects.

EU citizens staying more than three months register with the comune’s registry office, with proof of work, study, or enough money and health cover. A landlord who houses a non-EU national notifies the police within 48 hours with the passport details. Visitors from outside the EU, including the United Kingdom and the United States, may stay 90 days in any 180 across the Schengen area, and the EU Entry/Exit System has registered their short stays since 10 April 2026. A non-EU visitor arriving from another Schengen country declares presence to the police headquarters within eight days.

What platforms call long stays

Vrbo’s monthly-stays page, as archived in June 2026, describes stays of 28 nights or more and says select homes offer a discount for them. Agoda lets partners offer long-stay promotions on bookings of more than 28 days and permits stays of up to 90 days.

The platform label does not settle the legal status. Up to 30 days, check the CIN on the listing; beyond 30 days, ask for a written lease and its registration with the Agenzia delle Entrate.

Pitfalls

A listing with no CIN. Every licensed stay must show one.

A lease of more than 30 days that is never registered: it is void, and tenant and landlord share liability for the registration tax.

A deposit above three months’ rent on a lease of a home.

Counting on a residents’ parking season ticket: it goes with residence, and the comune limits how many it issues in each zone.

Leaving a car in a zone A bay on a Sunday afternoon, when charging restarts at 14:30.
