Where to stay in Paros

Parikia is the capital and main port, with Livadia beach about 1.5 km from the centre and the airport about 11 km away. Naousa, about 10.5 km away by road, is the harbour town of the north coast, with beaches such as Kolymbithres about 5 km from it.

Inland, Lefkes, about 11 km from Parikia, was the island's first capital and keeps the church of Agia Triada, completed in 1835, with marble bell towers; a Byzantine path paved with Parian marble links it with Prodromos. The east coast runs from Piso Livadi past Logaras and Golden Beach to Drios, about 16 to 20 km by road from Parikia.

In the south, Aliki is the base closest to the airport, about 5 km away, a village with a fishing shelter and a beach. Antiparos lies across the strait from Pounta, about 7 minutes by car ferry.

Both towns close streets to cars from spring to the end of October. In Parikia, council decision 54/2025 makes the seafront road, Giannis Parios, pedestrian from 14:00 to 05:00 between the KTEL stop and the Bountaraki bridge from 1 May to 31 October 2026, with deliveries allowed from 05:00 to 10:00 and 15:00 to 17:00; the same hours applied over Easter, from 9 to 14 April. Mando Mavrogenous square is pedestrian all day, all year. The Anargyros car park is on Agias Theoktistis street.

In Naousa, the square and the harbour area are pedestrian from 4 April to 30 October 2026, with deliveries from 07:00 to 13:00. In July 2026 the municipality signed a contract for a traffic study of Naousa, Aliki and Piso Livadi to organise parking, which it calls a problem especially in the summer months; the study runs in two phases of eight and three months. Near Naousa, the municipality fenced off the wetland at Santa Maria, used as a car park for more than 40 years, and the ministerial decision that protects small island wetlands forbids parking there.

The municipality is adding space elsewhere: in February 2026 it approved leasing 6,068 m2 of land for a car park about 300 m from the seafront at Aliki, and in August 2026 it signed leases for two car parks in Prodromos. The rental contract sets the other limits: one Paros company forbids ferrying its cars anywhere except on the Paros to Antiparos line without written permission, and none of its insurance packages covers damage from beaches, dirt roads or unpaved roads. Greece charges a climate crisis resilience fee per night for each room or property, and Paros has no rate of its own: one national table applies, set by Law 5162/2024 and now in article 44 of the Code of indirect taxes (Law 5177/2025), unchanged for 2026. From April to October a short-term rental pays EUR 8 a night, or EUR 15 for a detached house over 80 m2; rooms to let pay EUR 2, hotels EUR 2 to 15 by stars and tourist villas EUR 15. From November to March a short-term rental pays EUR 2, or EUR 4 for a detached house over 80 m2, and hotels EUR 0.50 to 4. The host charges it after the stay and before departure, on a separate receipt, and a free stay pays nothing. A municipal visitor fee on the rent, borne by the guest, comes on top: 0.5% under national law, set at 0.75% for 2025 by the Paros council, with the 2026 rate unverified as of September 2026. Antiparos, a separate municipality, kept 0.5%.

Every short-term rental must be in the AADE registry and show its 11-digit property registry number, the AMA, on every platform and advert, and the host declares each stay to AADE; properties with a tourism licence show a 16-digit ΕΣΛ or a 7-digit ΜΑΓ number instead. Since 1 October 2025, Law 5170/2025 has also required smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, a first aid kit, a guide to emergency numbers and civil liability insurance, with a EUR 5,000 fine for a host who fails the rules. A listing without an AMA is worth a question before paying.

The car-free schemes are seasonal. The Parikia seafront hours run to 31 October 2026 and the Naousa scheme to 30 October 2026, while Mando Mavrogenous square stays pedestrian all year. The climate fee drops on 1 November, from EUR 8 to EUR 2 a night for a short-term rental.

The Antiparos car ferry runs daily all year and takes no reservations, so a stay on Antiparos does not depend on a booked crossing.

The main port, the shortest airport run from a town and a month outside summer: Parikia.
