The capital, on a 5 km harbour with ferries to Palma, Barcelona and Valencia, and the closest town to the airport. It suits city life, short transfers and a month with year-round services.
Car and parking
Maó runs a blue zone with a two-hour limit, and a ticket overstay can be cancelled for EUR 3 within an hour or EUR 6 within two, according to local press. Ask the host about a space.
The town at the western end of the island, with its narrow harbour and old town. It suits guests who want the south-west coves and a town to walk in the evening.
Car and parking
The Plaça des Born has been car-free since June 2025; the car parks around the old town are Dalt la Quintana, es Molí, la Pau and la Coma. The blue zone allows two hours, charges more from June to September and is free on Sundays and holidays.
A fishing village on its bay on the north coast, with the Cavalleria lighthouse about 15 km away. It suits quiet stays and walkers.

No official parking information for Fornells was found as of September 2026. The northern capes are reached on rural lanes, the Cavalleria lighthouse about 15 km away, so a car is useful here.
A resort on a horseshoe bay on the south coast, a walk from the unspoilt coves of the south-west. It suits families and beach holidays.

Ferreries, the municipality, does not charge for parking, according to local press. Cala Mitjana has its own car park about 1 km away, while Macarella takes no private cars from 1 June to 30 September and is reached by bus from Ciutadella.
The south-east near the airport: the village of Sant Lluís and the coastal resorts around Binibèquer, including the white village of Binibèquer Vell. It suits short transfers and villa stays.

Sant Lluís has no active blue zone, according to local press. Binibèquer Vell is private property whose owners ask visitors to come between 10:00 and 22:00, and parking is in the neighbouring resort.

Menorca's holiday lets end at 30 nights, and the island has been removing tourist licences from its town centres. A month here is either a short holiday-home booking or a seasonal lease.

The Balearic tourist stay tax: EUR 2 a person a night in holiday homes and one to three star hotels, up to EUR 4 in five star hotels. It drops by 75% from 1 November to 30 April and halves from the ninth night of a stay longer than eight nights. Under 16s are exempt.
No numeric cap is in force in 2026. The ports count vehicles from 2026, and on 2 September 2026 the Consell voted to amend the law so it can set rental-car quotas, which press reports place from 2027.
At most 30 nights. Balearic law caps a tourist stay in a home at one month; a longer stay is a seasonal lease, with a deposit of two months' rent.
