Questions

Can a guest park in the old town of Kavala?

No. On the Panagia peninsula only permanent residents with a municipal permit may park, and the regulation says visitors may not. Guests of rented apartments may only load and unload where stopping is allowed, so the car has to stay outside the peninsula.

How much does street parking cost in central Kavala?

In the controlled zone, EUR 1 for one hour, EUR 2 for two and EUR 4 for three, the maximum, on weekdays 08:00 to 21:00 and on Saturdays 08:00 to 16:00, paid in the Novoville app or at partner sales points. Sundays and public holidays are free.

How do you take a car to Thasos from Kavala?

Thassos Ferries runs Keramoti to Limenas and Kavala to Prinos. Its price page lists EUR 22 for a car up to 4.25 m on both crossings, and EUR 6 or EUR 7 per passenger. Tickets are sold only at the company's offices immediately before departure.

Is there a tourist tax in Kavala?

Greece charges a climate resilience fee per night and per room or property: EUR 8 for a short-term rental from April to October and EUR 2 from November to March. Hotels and professional hosts also add a municipal visitors' fee of 0.5% of the price, which Kavala kept for 2026 in council decision 254/2025.
