About Agadir

Agadir's hotels line a bay beach with a promenade, and the surf villages of Tamraght and Taghazout lie up the N1 coast road. With a car, the choice is between the city's seafront and the villages to the north.

Airport
Agadir Al Massira (AGA), 25 km from the city according to the airport authority; about 32 km by road to the city centre. Source

Per person per night, set by each commune inside national ranges: for example 10 to 25 DH in a 5-star hotel and 15 to 30 DH in a guest house; under-12s exempt. Agadir's own rates were not found. Source
Short-term rental rules
Hotels and guest houses need an operating authorisation and an official classification under Law 80-14. At check-in each guest shows a passport and signs a registration form, which the host declares electronically every day. Source

Seafront

The tourist area behind the promenade, crossed by three parallel avenues from the north end of the beach: 20 August, Mohammed V and Hassan II. The promenade has restaurants and cafés, and the beach is supervised in summer. It suits a beach holiday on foot.

Car and parking

The commune has handed public parking to its company Agadir Mobilité, which is reviewing the arrangements and publishes no tariff. Ask the hotel whether a space comes with the room.

Marina

The yacht harbour at the north end of the beach, next to the port, where the promenade begins, below the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella. It suits a stay by the harbour with the whole promenade to the south.

Car and parking

Public parking here falls under the same Agadir Mobilité scheme, still under review and without a published tariff. Ask the host about a space in the building.

City centre

The centre rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake on a grid of streets, with brutalist buildings such as Zevaco's central post office, the town hall square and a large souk. City buses run along Avenue Mohammed V. It suits a city base and a longer stay on a budget.

Car and parking

Street parking and car parks fall under Agadir Mobilité, whose arrangements are under review; no tariff is published. City buses along Avenue Mohammed V cost 5 DH a ticket.

Tamraght and Aourir

Two villages on the N1 coast road, Tamraght to the north and Aourir to the south, in what the regional tourism board calls the best surfing area for pros and beginners. They are also the way into the Paradise Valley. It suits a surf trip or a longer stay on a budget.

Car and parking

No municipal parking source was found. The N1 is the access road from Agadir, and bus 33 runs along the coast as an alternative.

Taghazout

A fishing village with a surfing culture, its main beach good for swimming and Anchor Point, a world-famous wave, at its northern tip. The tourism board warns of crowds during and after the summer holidays. It suits surfers and small guest houses.

Car and parking

Drivers leave the N1 and go down into the village; no municipal parking rule was found. For La Source beach, a few hundred metres north, the tourism board points to a hotel car park.

Taghazout Bay

The resort built between Taghazout and Tamraght by the development company SAPST, with several brand-name hotels, nearly 2,000 residential units, a 27-hole golf course and a surf camp. It suits a resort stay with golf and the beach.

A free shuttle runs every day from 9:00 to 22:00, all year, between Taghazout and Tamraght through the resort. Resort parking rules were not found; ask the hotel.

Questions

How far is Agadir airport from the city?

The airport authority puts Al Massira 25 km from the city, and the regional tourism board gives 30 minutes; by road it is about 32 km to the city centre. Taxis wait at the arrivals esplanade around the clock.

Is there a tourist tax in Agadir?
