About Zadar

Zadar airport sits at Zemunik Donji, about 7 km east of the city, and the Old Town fills a small peninsula where most street parking belongs to residents. Beyond the old walls, Kolovare and the coast north-west are simpler bases for a driver.

Airport
Zadar (ZAD), 8 km from the city by the airport's figure and about 13 km by road to the Old Town. The airport bus to the Old Town costs EUR 5 and takes about 20 minutes. Source

Short-term rental rules

Old Town peninsula

The walled peninsula with the Roman Forum, the cathedral and the promenade along the sea, all on foot. It suits a first visit and travellers who can leave the car outside the old streets. Stays are apartments in old buildings and a few hotels.

Car and parking

Zone 0 streets are for residents, and other cars may stay one hour at most, charged around the clock. The harbour-front car parks are zone 1, three hours at most from 15 June to 31 August, and the other bays zone 2. The city is studying an access zone for the peninsula.

Kolovare

The streets behind Zadar's best-known city beach, 500 m from the centre by the parking operator's figure, with a Blue Flag since 2014 and lifeguards from 10:00 to 18:00. It suits families who want the beach and the Old Town on foot.

Borik and Puntamika

The north-western shore around two marinas and the Puntamika headland, about 2 km from the Old Town. It suits stays by the sea for drivers who want the car close to the room and a short drive into town.

Diklo and Kožino

Quieter seafront neighbourhoods further north-west, with houses and apartments along the shore. It suits longer stays with a car and guests who prefer evenings away from the Old Town.

Nin

A small old town 17 km from Zadar by the airport's figures, beside Queen's Beach, which the Nin tourist board calls the longest sandy beach in Croatia at 3 km. It suits families and beach stays with a car.

How much is the tourist tax in Zadar in 2026?

Can a visitor park on the Old Town peninsula?
