A month in Prague
A month in Prague pays the accommodation fee on every night, because the fee covers stays of up to 60 consecutive days with one host. Beyond the fee, a month brings police registration, Schengen day counting and a place to keep the car.

What a month means legally
The Czech Civil Code protects tenants who rent a flat to live in, but section 2235 excludes a flat or house let for recreation or another obviously short-term purpose. A holiday month in an apartment falls on that side of the line. Where a deposit is agreed, the deposit and any contractual penalty together may not exceed three months' rent under section 2254. A hotel or aparthotel stay runs on an accommodation contract under section 2326 instead.
EU citizens need no residence or work permit. Non-EU visitors from visa-exempt countries, the United Kingdom among them, may stay 90 days in any 180 across the whole Schengen area, and since 10 April 2026 the EU Entry/Exit System records their entries and exits at the external border. GOV.UK adds that a British passport must have been issued less than 10 years before arrival.
The fee on a month
Prague's local accommodation fee is CZK 50 per person for every started day except the day of arrival. It applies to paid stays of up to 60 consecutive days with one host, so a 30-night stay pays it on all 30 nights. Guests under 18 are exempt, as are students in accommodation for their studies and people doing seasonal work. The host collects the fee with the rent.
Police registration and paperwork
The host reports every foreign guest to the Czech police within three working days of arrival, through Ubyport or on the paper form. The Ministry of the Interior counts a lease or sublease as accommodation for this purpose, so the duty applies to a monthly apartment as much as to a hotel. Ask the host to confirm the report. GOV.UK warns that a visitor who is not registered can be fined up to CZK 3,000.
EU citizens who stay more than 30 days register their place of residence with the Foreign Police within 30 working days, unless the host has registered them. The host must also give a foreign guest, on request, a written confirmation of the accommodation and its dates.
The areas and the parking that suit a month

Street parking does not work for a month: blue zones give visitors one hour in the centre, purple zones three hours, and the long-term permits need residence. The city's public car parks offer rental contracts for at least one month on free spaces, by application to TSK, the city road authority. Muzeum in Vinohrady and Letná in Prague 7 take long-term parking; ask TSK for the price and a free space before booking.
Vinohrady suits a month about 2 km from Old Town Square, with the Muzeum car park. Holešovice has P+R Holešovice at CZK 100 for 24 hours and P+R Troja, free for 12 hours, plus the Letná car park. Karlín is about the same distance east of the centre, with no city car park on the list, so a month there needs a place with its own parking.
What the platforms call a long stay
Airbnb calls 28 nights or more a monthly stay. It charges the first month up front and releases it to the host 24 hours after check-in, charges each later month 10 days before it starts, and applies a long-term cancellation policy that generally asks for 30 days' notice of changes. How other platforms label long stays in Prague was not verified as of September 2026.
Pitfalls
Expecting the fee to stop after 30 nights. It runs on stays of up to 60 consecutive days with one host.
Counting Schengen days only in Czechia. The 90 days in 180 run across the whole Schengen area.
Skipping police registration in a private flat. A lease counts as accommodation, and the report is due within three working days.
Planning on street parking. A resident permit needs residence, and visitor time in the zones is counted in hours.
Waiting for a listing number. Czechia requires none as of September 2026, so check the host by other means.

Yes. CZK 50 per person per night applies to paid stays of up to 60 consecutive days with one host, so a month pays it every night. Guests under 18 pay nothing.

The host, within three working days, through the Ubyport application or on paper. The rule covers leases and subleases as well as hotels.
Do EU citizens need to register for a month in Prague?
For a stay of more than 30 days, EU citizens register their place of residence with the Foreign Police within 30 working days, unless the host has done it.
Where can a car be kept for a month?
The city's public car parks rent spaces for at least one month by application to TSK; Muzeum in Vinohrady and Letná in Prague 7 are on the list.
