A month in Poznań

A month in Poznań stays inside the 30 days that Polish law allows foreigners without residence registration. The bigger cost question for a driver is parking, since the cheaper tariff is for registered residents.

What a month means legally

Foreigners staying in Poland no more than 30 days are exempt from the meldunek, the residence registration. Past 30 days, EU, EEA and Swiss citizens register at the commune office by the 30th day after arriving at the address and other nationals by the fourth day. EU citizens who stay beyond three months register their residence in person, no later than the day after the three months end.

Non-EU visitors may stay 90 days in any 180 across the Schengen area, recorded since 10 April 2026 by the Entry/Exit System. British passports must have been issued less than 10 years before and stay valid three months after leaving the Schengen area.

Short let or lease

A flat let to visitors is a hotel service in an "other establishment" under the hotel services act. The government bill in the Sejm would define hotel services as stays of under 30 days for one client and require an ID number in each listing; it awaits its second reading.

A month can also run on a written lease under the Civil Code. The occasional lease, najem okazjonalny, comes with a notarial deed in which the tenant agrees to leave, the address of another flat and a deposit of up to six months' rent, and the owner must notify the tax office within 14 days. Ask which contract a month is offered under before paying a deposit.

The tax on a month

Quub found no Poznań resolution introducing the opłata miejscowa; unverified as of October 2026. An act passed by parliament in September 2026 and awaiting the President's signature on 5 October 2026 would change the levy from 1 January 2027 in any city that adopts it: a charge per night, a cap of PLN 5 and no levy on stays of more than 29 consecutive nights.

The areas and the parking that suit a month

Jeżyce and Łazarz suit a month with a car. In Łazarz and the outer parts of Jeżyce the blue zone charges visitors PLN 5 for the first hour and PLN 5 for each hour after the third, on weekdays only, on the rates since 1 September 2025. The central part of Jeżyce charges from PLN 7.50 and includes Saturdays.

The lower tariff, PLN 4 for the first blue zone hour, needs registration in Poznań, tax paid in the city and an account in the OK Poznań programme, which a one-month visitor will not have. Ostrów Tumski and Śródka, also in the blue zone, put a month by the cathedral about 2 km from the Old Market Square. The Old Town zone is the costliest place to keep a car, at PLN 9.50 for the first hour from Monday to Saturday.

What the platforms call a long stay

Airbnb calls 28 nights or more a monthly stay, charges the first month up front, releases it to the host 24 hours after check-in and charges each later month 10 days before it starts. How other platforms label long stays in Poznań was not verified as of October 2026.

Pitfalls

Reading the residents' parking rates as the price. Visitors pay the standard tariff.

Choosing a flat on the Old Market Square for a month with a car. The square has been closed to most traffic by bollards since 2024.

Staying past 30 days without the meldunek. For non-EU nationals the deadline is the fourth day at the address.

Counting Schengen days in Poland alone. The 90 days in 180 run across the whole area.
