Where to stay in Konya

Konya's centre runs from the Mevlana Museum to Alaaddin Hill, 2 km apart by road, with Meram to the south-west and Selçuklu to the north. The airport lies 18 km out, and the municipal company runs car parks beside both landmarks.

How the areas differ

The Mevlana Museum, with its fluted green dome, stands in the Karatay district, with a paved square at its entrance. Alaaddin Hill, about 2 km west by road, is a park on a hill where Seljuk tombs stand in the courtyard of the Alaeddin Mosque.

Meram, south-west of the centre, has the Konya railway station and its town hall about 5 km from the museum by road. Selçuklu, to the north, has the Selçuklu railway station, also about 5 km from the museum, and is the nearest of the four areas to the airport, about 16 km away.

The state airports authority puts Konya airport 18 km from the city centre. By road it is about 18.5 km to the Mevlana Museum, about 18 km to Alaaddin Hill, about 20 km to the Meram town hall and about 16 km to the Selçuklu station.

KONBELTAŞ, a company of the metropolitan municipality, manages every municipal car park in Konya under a council decision and trades as KONPARK. Its site lists 5 closed car parks, 30 open ones and 38 street parking sites, with their capacities and map locations, but no fees.

For the Mevlana Museum, the Mevlana Kapalı car park has 300 spaces and the Akçeşme open car park 260, and the Tarihi Buğday Pazarı multi-storey holds 570. For Alaaddin Hill, the Zindankale multi-storey has 335 spaces and the Kültürpark open car park 75. Meram's railway station has two open car parks of 500 and 200 spaces, and the Selçuklu station two of 100 each.

Since no fees are published, ask the hotel before booking whether it has its own parking and what a night costs. Konya airport has Avis, Budget and Çizgi rental desks and a HAVAŞ shuttle into the city. GetCar's car rental page for Konya lists the rental options.

Tax and registration rules for a guest

Konya has no city tax. The national accommodation tax is 1% of the room price before VAT from 1 May to 31 December 2026, half the 2% in the law, and it appears as its own line on the invoice. When a booking site sold the stay without it, the hotel invoices the tax to the guest after the stay.

A flat let for up to 100 days needs a Ministry of Culture and Tourism permit. The listing must show the permit number and say whether parking is available, a plaque marked Turizm Amaçlı Konut hangs at the entrance, and all the flat owners in the building must have agreed. Hotels and permitted flats record each guest's passport or identity card and report it to the police at once.

When to book what

For a short stay, the hotel's parking matters more than the area: Mevlana and Alaaddin Hill both have multi-storey car parks within 2 km, so a hotel without its own parking can still work, though the fee is not published.

For a flat, read the listing for the permit number and the parking line before paying; the regulation on tourism rentals requires both. For an early flight, Selçuklu saves a few kilometres: about 16 km to the airport against about 18 km from the centre. The 1% tax rate runs to 31 December 2026; from 1 January 2027 the 2% in the law applies unless a new decision extends the cut. Compare prices for the area on this page once the dates are fixed.
