A month in Aruba

No reputable source on monthly rents, deposits or utilities in Aruba was found, so this guide gives no rent figures. The levies are known. The tourist levy is 12.5% of what the guest pays for the room, service and energy charges included. The environmental levy is USD 3 per occupied room per night, so a 30-night month in one room adds USD 90. Neither ordinance read for this guide caps the number of nights, and whether stays of 90 days or more fall outside the levies is unverified as of September 2026.

Both levies apply to apartments and houses rented to tourists, not only to hotels, and guests registered as residents are exempt. Since 2023 both can be charged to a platform that takes the payment, and the host must tell the guest in writing what environmental levy is due.

Noord suits a month in a rental house, about 2 km from Palm Beach and about 9 km from the airport, with the car doing the beach runs. Eagle Beach suits a month by the widest beach on the island, with Oranjestad about 5 km away. Oranjestad itself suits a month of town life close to the airport, though its streets are metered from Monday to Saturday.

San Nicolas and Savaneta suit a month away from the hotel strips, with Baby Beach about 7 km from San Nicolas, and Malmok and Arashi a quieter month among holiday homes north of Palm Beach. These choices are editorial.

Entry rules depend on nationality. UK travel advice says British citizens can visit Aruba for up to 3 months without a visa, that staying longer, working or studying means meeting the Aruban government's entry requirements, and that overstaying or working without a work permit is illegal. Netherlands Worldwide, a Dutch government service, explains which nationalities need a Caribbean visa for Aruba, with separate procedures for stays of 90 days or less and longer ones.

The ED card is completed for each trip, up to 7 days before arriving. The USD 20 sustainability fee is due through it once every 365 days for visitors arriving by air, with children under eight exempt. The system does not recognise repeat visitors, so a second trip within the year is charged again and the fee is reclaimed from AWSS, the company that handles it, with proof.

The government announced vacation rental registration in April 2024. Whether it is now required is unverified as of September 2026, and no rule requiring a registration number on listings was found.

Airbnb calls a reservation of 28 nights or more a monthly stay. It charges the first month up front and releases it to the host 24 hours after check-in, then charges each later month 10 days in advance, and the price is locked in at the start of the reservation. Its long-term cancellation policy applies to all of these stays and, as a rule, requires 30 days' notice of changes.

The Aruba Tourism Authority points visitors to cars for hire at the airport, and every area in this guide is within about 18 km of Oranjestad by road. Outside Oranjestad no paid street parking scheme was found as of September 2026, so ask whether the house or apartment has its own parking before booking the month.
